GROUNDBREAKING FOR BAREFOOT COMMONS

STARTS IN THE FAST LANE

Ground breaking honors amusement park with the final lap around the track

North Myrtle Beach, SC (November 3, 2006) - Before breaking ground on the 100,000 square foot Barefoot Commons shopping center today, executives took one last lap around the track  to honor the Grand Prix Family Thrill Park. Barefoot Commons, located at the former site of the Grand Prix Family Thrill Park, will be anchored by a 48,000 square foot Bi-Lo Supermarket.

After the final lap, Bi-Lo executives, the Lazarus family and representatives from 1st Carolina Properties used “checkered flag” shovels to officially break ground. To celebrate the start of construction, guests enjoyed a race-themed event which included a chance for a photo with a Bi-Lo race car which will be displayed at the future store.

“Today we were able to honor the history of the Grand Prix which is very dear to local residents.  We were also able to look to the future of Barefoot Commons and realize that it will provide residents and visitors a variety of new shopping options, as well as add to the rapidly growing economy of North Myrtle Beach,” said Randy Bosse, managing partner for 1st Carolina Properties.

In addition to the Bi-Lo, Barefoot Commons will also have restaurants, small retail shops and other specialty stores.  The Grand Opening is scheduled for fall 2007.
